Biography of Elder Bobby D. Houze

Elder  Bobby D. Houze was born in Cleveland County, North Carolina and raised by his grandparents in Grover, North Carolina. He answered the call into God’s ministry in 1985. He received his license to preach on October 6, 1985 and was ordained on March 29, 1987.


Because of his call and desire to gain more knowledge of the scriptures, he has attended various colleges and universities and received numerous certificates, and degrees from; Cleveland Community College, Gaston College, Furman University, Gardner-Webb University, Mid-Atlantic Bible College, Emanuel Baptist University and Shaw University.  Furthermore, he received his Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degrees in Theology from Emmanuel Baptist Seminary, a Doctorate of Ministry degree from Emmanuel Baptist University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from Shaw University.


He is married to Dora Roberts Houze, They have two daughters, Shavon and Tiffany, and six grandchildren, Torryce (Tee), Keoshya, Khamel Kaiden, Jahkeem and Kensley.


Prior to coming to New Hope Pastor Houze pastored at New Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Gaffney, SC. Since March 1994, he has served as Pastor and Teacher of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Charlotte, North Carolina.  The anointed calling on his life has caused the congregation to achieve higher levels of spiritual, educational, and physical growth. Under his leadership, vision, wisdom and guidance, more than 25 new ministries have been birthed.


His leadership abilities have been recognized locally, nationally and internationally. He was featured in the 2001 edition of Gospel Today as one of America’s Most Loved Pastors. In October 2004 Elder  Houze was appointed Chairperson of Evangelism of the General Baptist State Convention of North Carolina, Inc.


Elder  Houze is an inspiring man of God who has a deep desire to win souls for Christ. He is committed to serving God, dedicated to follow God’s vision for his church and excited as God continues to do “exceedingly, abundantly, above all he could do or think” within his life and ministry. (Eph 3:30)
